MAY AURIN

MAY AURIN has been painting for as long as she can remember.

 

After 30+ years as a Creative Director and Illustrator, she now devotes herself entirely to painting.

 

In her Hamburg studio, she creates figurative, color-rich works, choosing subjects intuitively. Using acrylic on canvas, usually with a single brush and wet-on-wet technique, she paints quickly – producing images like visual snapshots: moments full of energy, light, shadow, and narrative tension.

 

Her work captures life’s fleeting nature, memories, and intense experiences. Scenes often resemble photographs in dim light or under harsh flashes: 

people in motion, casual gestures, intoxicated, passionate, bold, reckless, strong or vulnerable. Subtle details hint at larger stories unfolding between figures and spaces.
